HOBART City moved in to the TSL top five for the first time this season at Devonport’s expense, courtesy of its seven-point victory over Lauderdale in a close contest at North Hobart Oval on Saturday.
Little separated the two teams all day with the Southern Bombers leading by six points at quarter time and five at half-time.
The Demons kicked five goals to three in the third quarter to open up a six-point lead at three-quarter-time and held on in a tight final term to win 13.9 (87) to 12.8 (80).
Julian Debosz kicked four goals for the Demons with Dwayne Bosen booting two.
Hugh Williams, Debosz, Liam Azzopardi and Jake Stride were in their best players.
Ben Halton, Daff and Thor Boscott all kicked two goals each for Lauderdale with Bryce Walsh, Michael Cassidy and Ben McGuiness their standout players.
Hobart City now sits a game clear of Devonport in fifth spot and equal on points with Lauderdale in fourth place.
Lauderdale’s defeat strengthens North Launceston’s hold on third spot, leaving it two games clear of the Southern Bombers.
